The children have been wandering around at stations or other places in the city where they were taken by KDM. Some are orphans, others come from problem families and the house has been shut off or run away. The children live in KDM’s area, go there to school and ultimately guide to independent living and the labor market. KDM has five different units to achieve this. Rescue and Adaptation which recruits the children and adds the practical initial values. Then they come under the Parenting Unit where the children live under supervision in different living rooms. The children are coached by supervisors who bring standards, values and social skills. At the same time they fall under the Basic Education Unit. The children have a different level of knowledge, some are not or very low educated, others already have a base and can, for example, read and write. The Basic Education Unit consists of three classrooms teaching at different adapted levels. Thereafter there is a special department (Entrepeneurship) which guides the older children to the labor market from around 16 years. A special workshop has been built for this guidance and development of skills and talent.
